It is with great pleasure that Waikato Football Club announce a historic partnership with local broadcaster tvCentral for season 2009/2010.
The agreement will guarantee that highlights of all seven of Waikato FC’s home games will be broadcast nationally through the Freeview platform.
“The agreement with tvCentral speaks to our ambition both on and off the field this season,” said Development Manager James Raffan “There are commercial benefits to TV coverage and the added exposure it will bring for our sponsors but it wasn’t strictly a financial decision.”
“Waikato FC have a duty to the next generation of footballers growing up in the Waikato, it isn’t something we take lightly. Our partnership with tvCentral could have a similar impact on the kids that going to games at Muir Park had on earlier generations.”
tvCentral currently broadcast out of Matamata but have a transmission range via terrestrial UHF that spreads throughout the Waikato and Bay of Plenty on the 40/622mhz band and nationally to Televisions with built in Freeview tuners or set top boxes.
Raffan believes Waikato FC and tvCentral share common goals and values.
“There are real synergies between the two organisations. They put a premium on being local and family friendly and that is something we relate too.”
These sentiments were echoed by tvCentral Director Paul Fawcett who said “tvCentral is really excited about working in partnership with WFC. Their commitment to the local community and players through the means of football is commendable and the opportunity for tvCentral to play highlight shows of the season in 2010 enables the region to see more of what WFC has to offer.”
The show is being produced by Hamilton based “Chasing Time Productions” who have just premiered their second feature film and have freed up time in their schedules to help develop the show.
It is expected that the 30 minute show will screen three times a week beginning in early 2010. The debut show will feature highlights from the November 1st game vs Hawke’s Bay United as well as player profiles and a tips and tricks section aimed at teaching young players a new skill.
